Sonstilstandsdag 2001/ Summer Solstice 2001

Our high latitude (approximately 58° North) makes for long, although not necessarily warm & sunny, summer days. A group of us celebrated summer solstice at the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village (http://www.gearrannan.com). We had a "braai" (traditional South African barbeque complete with South African sausages), talked & laughed for hours, had a midnight stroll in the waning light & danced naked around the Stones (at Callanish). Naw, not really the latter, nobody had that much to drink!

Even the weather did it's bit & basked us in glorious sunshine for a thoroughly enjoyable time.
