A typical peat bank. Peat is cut in spring and left to dry during the summer months. The drying is a process in itself as it needs to be turned (or "lifted") 3-4 times depending on the weather, to dry completely.

During the liftings the peat is built into bigger & bigger stacks to protect it against rain, until the final dry product can be taken home & built into a proper peat stack.Click picture to return where you came from
